It is firmly believed that reshaping and redesigning of Technical Higher Education in India is of paramount importance for making “New India”. In this context, this book proposes a few innovative solutions for making Technical Higher Education purposeful, meaningful and deliverable for the country. Main emphasizes are given on --- “Redesigning Syllabus”, “Reformatting Examination System”, “Innovations in Faculty Recruitment Scheme” and “Innovation in changing mindset of the students”. My thoughts portrayed in this book got published as several articles in University News. This book compiles the published and some unpublished articles in the form of book. All the ideas, thoughts and comments given in the book are of my own personal capacity and not on official capacity in any way.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Prof. C. T. Bhunia did his B.Tech. in Radio Physics and Electronics in 1983 from the University of Calcutta, and then joined DVC of Govt. of India as Te l e c o m m u n i c a t i o n Engineer. He did M.Tech in Radio Physics and Electronics in 1985 and then joined North Bengal University as a Lecturer of Computer Science & Application in 1988 and became Assistant Professor of Electronic & Communication Engineering at the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science & Technology (NERIST) of Govt. of India in 1990. He got Ph.D in Computer Science & Engieering from the Jadavpur University. He became a full professor in 1997 at NERIST where he was HoD of ECE & CSE for about six years and Dean (Academics/Post Graduate Studies) for about one and half years. He then switched to private engineering colleges from 1999 to 2003 as HoD, Deputy Director and Director including the Director of the Bengal Institute of Technology & Management, Shantineketan. Then he was a full Professor of Computer Science & Engineering and Director (Acad) of Haldia Institute of technology. Presently, he is Director of National Institute of Technology, Arunachal Pradesh. He has extensively visited foreign countries, namely China, Italy, Singapore, UK, Jordan, Bhutan, USA and Bangladesh on several assignments including BOYSCAST fellowship . He has published around 250 research papers and technical articles / reports in nation/international/journals/magazines/s eminars. He has authored books: Changes for Technical Education, Quantam Computing and Information Technology, Network and Internet. He is fellow of the IETE & the IE (I), and a senior member of the IEEE & CSI.
